Arteta: The Differences Were Slight, and That's What the Match Needed
Friday 09-01-2026
Arsenal's coach Mikel Arteta appeared in a press conference following the 0-0 draw against Liverpool in the 21st round of the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium.

The coach said: "We know the differences are very slight. I believe we played two completely different halves. In the first half, we controlled the flow of the game and created dangerous opportunities with players positioned close to the six-yard box to monitor their teammates, but we couldn't find the right pass to score the goal. The second half was more difficult."

He added: "This match requires magical moments, and at Anfield, Dominic Szoboszlai delivered, and they won the match back then. Today, that didn't happen, but you can't always win or lose."

He emphasized: "We had some opportunities in suitable positions to harm them, but when we reached those areas, we lacked quality in selecting the players."

He added: "We have gone through a very intense schedule. The last six matches we played during the Christmas period, and we came out of them in a very strong position."

He concluded regarding Gabriel Martinelli's attempt to push Conor Bradley off the field after the latter fell to the ground due to injury: "Conor may not realize this, but from what I know about Gabi, he had no intention of hurting him at all. I don't know what happened to Conor, but I hope it's not serious. It's clear that Martinelli did not intend to harm him in any way."
