Hossam Hassan: I dedicate the victory to the Egyptian people and player Mohamed Hamdy
Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Egyptian national team, spoke about the victory the Pharaohs achieved over the Benin national team this evening in the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Egyptian national team defeated the Benin national team 3-1 in the Round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations, advancing Egypt to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Hassan said during the press conference after the match: "I dedicate this victory to the Egyptian people and to player Mohamed Hamdy. I am saddened by his ACL injury because he is a very talented player. I also thank all the players for the great effort they put in during the match, as well as all the members of the coaching and administrative staff."
He added: "We are happy to have qualified for the quarterfinals in the strongest tournament in recent years. The Benin team is a respectable team and played a good match. As I said before, there is no easy team in this tournament. The players will fight hard in the quarterfinal match, and I dedicate the victory to Mohamed Hamdi after his ACL injury was confirmed."
Regarding the injuries, Hossam Hassan pointed out that "Trezeguet is suffering from an ankle ligament injury, and we are working on preparing him for the upcoming matches."
He concluded his speech by saying: "Starting tomorrow, we will begin preparations for the quarterfinal match, and we are ready to face any team. I have 27 senior players, and I thank the medical and administrative staff, as well as everyone working within the national team."
