Sunday 04-01-2026
Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, is facing a tactical headache ahead of tomorrow's crucial match against Benin in the Round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations currently being held in Morocco, as the coaching staff strives to select the best lineup to advance through the knockout stage.

According to Al-Watan newspaper, Hossam Hassan is weighing his options between Ahmed Mostafa Zizo and Emam Ashour, the two players from Al Ahly club, to fill one of the midfield positions against the Benin national team. One of them is expected to start the match while the other will be on the bench as a strategic substitute.

The newspaper pointed out that the head coach of the Egyptian national team has decided to field Marwan Attia and Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet in midfield, alongside one of the duo Zizo or Emam Ashour, behind the forwards Mohamed Salah and Omar Marmoush, following his decision to return to the 3-5-2 formation in the match against Benin.

The Egyptian national team qualified for the Round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations after topping Group B with 7 points, earned from two wins and one draw, continuing their journey confidently towards competing for the continental title.
