Amorim: This is Our Stance on the Transfer Market, and Everything is Possible in the Premier League
Friday 02-01-2026
Manchester United coach Rúben Amorim appeared at a press conference to talk about Sunday’s match against Leeds United in the 20th round of the English Premier League.

The coach said: "There will be no changes in our transfer market, there are no talks about changing the team lineup. There is a clear process and an ongoing idea, and we will continue on this basis. We are close to the Champions League spots, but we are also close to eight teams behind us, so let’s focus on the next match."

He added about players requesting to leave the club: "No, no one has come to ask to leave. And I don’t expect them to do so."

Regarding the overall performance of the team: "I think we are playing better, and when the full team is present we attack more clearly, but we are not good enough in the details. We always want more, and we must have more points on the table."

He continued about the Leeds match and the atmosphere surrounding it: "I heard that the match is considered a big derby, a great atmosphere, and a huge rivalry, but every match in the Premier League is very tough. It’s just another game, I know it means a lot to the fans, but we have to go there and try to win."

He concluded about the nature of the competitions in the Premier League: "I have never experienced this kind of derby before, a different environment and a different culture, but the noise will be loud. It’s hard to compare different cultures, derbies, and histories. When you play for Manchester United, you have to be ready for everything. You have the best league in the world, and in every match there are many draws. You cannot predict what will happen at the weekend."
