Caballero: Mariska is Not Well, and We Feel Disappointed
Tuesday 30-12-2025
Willy Caballero, Chelsea's assistant coach, appeared in a statement to Sky Sports following the 2-2 draw against Bournemouth in the nineteenth round of the English Premier League.

Caballero said in his statement: "Enzo Mariska is not doing well. He hasn't been feeling well over the past two days, but he still attended training and participated in today's match. I took his place in front of the media just to clarify that he is not in a condition to carry out the rest of the coach's duties, so I am here instead of him."

Regarding the performance, he said: "The first half was crazy. We turned the result in our favor, but then we immediately conceded a goal, which is something we need to improve and fix right away. The players performed well and contributed to building attacks, and the open play was ideal. We created chances, and we also had opportunities in the second half."

He added: "Unfortunately, we couldn't win the match, which leaves us feeling a bit disappointed. We outperformed Bournemouth in some aspects and deserved to take all three points, but we only managed to get one because we conceded two goals today. We lacked the final touch, despite reaching the penalty area and delivering many crosses."

He concluded: "We are improving in some aspects, but we still need to learn how to close out matches and maintain the lead when we are ahead. We made a great effort to go up 2-1, but we couldn't secure the win and earn the three points. It's always frustrating to concede goals from set pieces, but that's part of the game. However, when we concede two goals in the same match, it becomes very difficult."
