Statements of Angola's Coach Before Facing Egypt
Sunday 28-12-2025
French coach Patrice Bomel, head of the Angola national team, spoke about the upcoming match against Egypt in the Africa Cup of Nations, emphasizing that the game will not be easy.

The Egypt national team will meet the Angola national team tomorrow, Monday, in the third round of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Pharaohs had secured their qualification to the round of 16 in the tournament after winning 2-1 against Zimbabwe in the first round and defeating South Africa 1-0 in the second round.

In the press conference held today, Sunday, Boumel confirmed that the Egyptian national team will not be negatively affected by resting its key players because it already has a strong squad with many talented members.

He added: "I do not really know whether the key players will be rested or not, but this point is not crucial because the Egyptian national team has strong elements, whether the players active in Europe and the Gulf or those from the Egyptian league, as they always compete in continental tournaments."

He emphasized that the Angola national team has no option but to win the match in order to compete for qualification to the round of 16.

He continued: "We will focus on ourselves and believe in our abilities to win against Egypt. The truth is, we followed Egypt's matches in the first two rounds, and the Pharaohs showed great mental strength. We saw that they defended strongly in the match against South Africa and kept a clean sheet. They truly deserve to qualify."

Pumell spoke about Chico Banza, the Zamalek player, saying: "In my opinion, he is an important player because he has the skills and speed. Of course, he knows all the details about Egyptian football since he plays for Zamalek. He is an important asset and ready to participate at any time."
