Emam Ashour: I Can't Describe My Feelings After Scoring Against Belgium
Imam Ashour, the Egyptian national team player, spoke about the goal he scored against Belgium in their opening match of the 2026 World Cup group stage, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
Imam Ashour stated during his appearance on ON TV: "I can't describe my feeling when I scored a goal against Belgium. I felt that I was going to score; I always have a sense of scoring at the beginning of the match, but in the end, success comes from God."
He added: "I was very happy when my name appeared on the World Cup list, as my goal was to be present and participate in the World Cup. I did not speak with Hossam Hassan before the announcement of the list, and I waited for my position."
He continued: "Our goal was to make history for ourselves and our country in the World Cup. We played two matches against Spain and Saudi Arabia, and we performed well, as we did against Brazil. Everyone said we would play three matches and go home, but we didn't listen to that talk; on the contrary, it gave us a strong motivation to achieve something great."
