Moamen Suleiman Awaits His Players to Fulfill Their Promise Against Al-Talaba
Moamen Suleiman, coach of Al-Shorta team, awaits his players to fulfill their promise tomorrow, Friday, when Al-Shorta meets Al-Talaba in the top match of the eighth round of the Iraqi Stars League.
Al-Shorta is experiencing a difficult psychological situation after losing 5-0 to Al-Ahli Saudi in the AFC Champions League Elite matches, continuing the team's negative results at the continental level.
Suleiman said: "The team conducted the final preparations today to face Al-Talaba in the Stars League. We know the match will not be easy against a big team, especially after they hired a good coach, but the technical staff has not yet figured out their style of play, as they have not played any official matches with the team so far."
He added: "We hope our players will perform at their usual level and overcome the recent setback to make us happy by achieving a positive result. We aim to impose our style on the field, and we have talked to the players to get them out of the atmosphere of the previous match, whether we won or lost, as we always review past mistakes."
He continued: "As a technical staff, we give advice and then turn the page because competitions renew day after day. I, for my part, expect my players to keep their promise and deliver a great match against Al-Talaba. Last season, we lost to Al-Zawraa, then returned and achieved a series of victories thanks to the spirit the players have, and I am betting on that."
On his part, Al-Shorta player Bassam Shaker said: "As players, we are capable of overcoming this phase, and we have fully prepared for the match. The return of injured players has given us additional strength to enter the match in a better form. Tomorrow's match, we aspire to earn the three points, and we must conclude our preparations today in the best possible way."
He added: "We must leave behind the atmosphere of the Asian competitions and enter the Al-Talaba match with a different spirit. The technical staff has dealt with us psychologically and morally to help us turn this page. Our fans have the right to feel sad, but what we have achieved over the last four seasons makes everyone proud of us, especially since we performed well at the Asian level."
