It seems that the story of goalkeeper Ahmed Basel with the Police Club is nearing its end, after more than a decade spent guarding the green lyre, as sources close to the player revealed that he has made a final decision to leave the team after completing his participation with the Iraqi national team in the 2026 World Cup.

The decision has not been officially announced yet, but the atmosphere within the club indicates that the 29-year-old goalkeeper is inclined to embark on a new experience away from the walls of the Police Club, after a career that began in 2014 when he joined from Al-Karkh Club.

Basel's journey with the Police Club was not fleeting. The goalkeeper participated in the team's crowning with five Iraqi Stars League titles, along with the Iraq Cup and the Super Cup, becoming one of the fixed pillars in the team during the period of local dominance that the club experienced in recent years.
