Expected Breakthrough in Al-Nassr’s Registration Ban Case
The management of Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr Club has resolved the registration ban imposed on the club, following intensive efforts over the past few hours to settle the pending issue with the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).
This breakthrough came after Al-Nassr officials successfully resolved the issue related to the outstanding payments for the transfer of the Spanish player Aymeric Laporte, which was the direct cause of the registration suspension decision.
The Saudi newspaper Al-Riyadiyah explained that the club has officially lifted the suspension, which paves the way for Al-Nassr to operate freely during upcoming registration periods without any legal restrictions.
The details of the crisis stem from a complaint filed by English club Manchester City with FIFA, due to the non-receipt of one of the installment payments for Aymeric Laporte's transfer to Al-Nassr in 2023.
The overdue installment from the Laporte deal amounted to about 9 million euros, which prompted FIFA to issue a decision to suspend registration until the payments are settled.
It is worth mentioning that Al-Nassr Club had ended its relationship with the Spanish defender during the last summer transfer window, after Aymeric Laporte transferred to Athletic Bilbao in Spain.
Aymeric Laporte played 69 official matches for Al-Nassr Saudi Club before returning to La Liga through his former club Athletic Bilbao.
