Reasons for the Quick End of Feghouli and Al-Obaidi's Experience in the Iraqi League
Al-Amana Baghdad Club officially announced the termination of contracts for Algerian Sofiane Feghouli and Tunisian Hamdi Al-Obaidi, less than five months after the players joined the team.
Al-Amana Baghdad, which recently returned to the Iraqi Stars League, had signed the players during the last summer transfer window, as the team worked on strengthening its squad with several signings to raise the technical level.
The club stated in an official statement on its official accounts: "Al-Amana Baghdad Club extends its thanks and appreciation to Algerian Sofiane Feghouli and Tunisian Hamdi Al-Obaidi for their commitment during their time with our team."
It added: "The club confirms that the contract termination was mutually agreed upon, in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding, wishing them continued success and prosperity in their future endeavors, both on the sporting and personal levels."
In this context, special sources said: "The technical staff of the Iraqi team, led by Ahmed Khalaf, met with the management to evaluate the team's situation and conduct a comprehensive review of all players, including Feghouli and Al-Obaidi."
They added: "The technical staff confirmed that the duo's performance numbers were very weak recently, as they were unable to provide the required contribution to the team, so the management decided to end the players' contracts after a consensual meeting with them."
They further explained: "One of the reasons for terminating the contracts is the decision to hold the Iraqi League with a two-group system, meaning the period will be shorter but the number of matches will be much higher than planned."
The Algerian star Sofiane Feghouli played four matches with Al-Amana Baghdad in the Iraqi Stars League, while he participated in two matches in the Iraq Cup competition and scored one goal against Masafi Al-Janoub.
On the other hand, Tunisian striker Hamdi Al-Obaidi played six matches in the Iraqi Stars League and also participated in two cup matches but was unable to make a mark by scoring goals.
