Arteta: We Need to Be More Effective in Front of Goal, and Not Look at Manchester City
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's coach, expressed his great happiness after his team’s 1-0 win over Everton in the seventeenth round of the English Premier League, emphasizing the importance of taking advantage of the chances available in front of goal.
Arteta said: "I am very happy with the win here, it is a very tough place to come to, I think it is very well organized. By the way, I would like to take the opportunity to say that the stadium they built is very impressive, I got goosebumps from its beauty, so congratulations to them."
He continued about the team's performance: "In the first half, we had some moments where we completely controlled the game without creating many chances, we scored the goal, and in the second half, we had three big open chances. If we want to be more comfortable at the end, we must capitalize on these opportunities in the Premier League. These moments require us to be more effective in front of goal to get a bigger margin."
Arteta added about the penalty scored by Victor Gjokaj: "That’s what I was hoping for, they have to take the initiative on the pitch. They decided that Victor was the best to take the penalty and he scored, so that’s a great decision. You have to enjoy the process of winning, it includes tough moments, great moments, and all of this is a reward for the intention we have and how close we are to winning. Therefore, we must enjoy every match and take it step by step."
Arteta concluded his talk about Manchester City’s win before Arsenal by confirming: "We do not focus on that, I know you do. The only thing we can control is our performance and results, and we know how difficult this league is and how long the competition lasts. That’s all. Enjoy every day, give your best, and let’s see what we achieve."
