Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappé appeared in a press statement after the 2-0 victory over Sevilla in the seventeenth round of the Spanish league at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Mbappé said: "It's a special day because it's my birthday. I've always dreamed since I was young of playing a professional match on my birthday, and for Real Madrid, my dream club. We won the match because it was very important; our goal was to end the year on a positive note."

He added about matching Cristiano's record as the top goal scorer in a single year with 59 goals: "The record is amazing. I wanted to send him a special greeting because he has always been kind to me. He has always praised Real Madrid and how to adapt. I am very happy to score goals for Real Madrid and to win the match."

He continued: "We know that we have struggled to secure wins and deliver good performances in recent league matches. Winning again and ending the year with a victory was extremely important for us. Now, we will take a break to rest and spend time with our families, and we will return in 2026 eager to win titles. We will start with the Spanish Super Cup; the first trophy of the upcoming season is approaching quickly, and we must be fully prepared."

He continued: "The Bernabéu fans and all fans around the world have always supported us. We all wish for the same thing in 2026. We will do our utmost for this motto; we have to prove on the field that it’s not just talk. We take pride in this motto, and we want to make history with Real Madrid."

He concluded about his celebration in the style of Cristiano Ronaldo: "This goal is dedicated to him. I usually celebrate in my own way, but this time I wanted to share it.
