Officially.. Porto announces signing of Thiago Silva

Portuguese club Porto announced today, Saturday, the signing of the historic Brazilian defender Thiago Silva, as the player returns to Portugal after his contract with Fluminense, where he played for the past two seasons, ended.

The veteran defender signed with Porto until the end of the season, with an option to extend for an additional season, in a free transfer deal.

Silva returns to Porto, which he represented in the 2004/2005 season when he played for Porto B, and now the veteran player aims to write a new chapter, this time with the first team, in search of the glory he missed before.

Throughout his long career, Thiago Silva played for major clubs such as AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, and Chelsea, achieving more than 100 appearances with each of them, and won 31 titles during his career, the most prominent of which are:

Silva, captain of the Brazilian national team, has played 113 international matches, was nominated three times in the FIFA FIFPro World XI (2013, 2014, 2015), won the Best Player award at the 2021 FIFA Club World Cup, and was recently nominated for the FIFA The Best award as the best defender of 2025.

Since 2006, the number of matches Silva has played each season has never been less than 34, reaching 58 matches in 2024 between Chelsea and Fluminense.
