Manchester United target Porto full-back
Manchester United are targeting a move for Portuguese Alberto Costa, a Porto full-back, in 2027, amid competition from Arsenal and Manchester City, according to "TEAMtalk".
Alberto Costa is 23 years old and previously played for Juventus before returning to Portugal and joining FC Porto in July 2025. He has participated in all of his team's matches this season except for one, which has drawn the attention of several major clubs, with Manchester United's interest described as particularly strong.
The player is contracted to FC Porto until June 2030, with a release clause of €65 million, equivalent to £54 million, and the club will not allow his departure unless the full amount is paid.
Manchester United are looking to strengthen their right-back position, with Costa potentially being an option to replace Diogo Dalot as part of a plan to restructure the defence by 2027, amid the possibility of departures for Dalot, Lisandro Martínez, Harry Maguire, and Luke Shaw.
Alongside Costa, Manchester United are looking to sign Adrien Truffert to compensate for Shaw, and Jarrad Branthwaite instead of Maguire. Meanwhile, the attempt to sign Lewis Hall from Newcastle appears difficult after he renewed his contract, and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in acquiring a full-back from FC Porto.
