Amorim: We Should Have Taken All Three Points, and There Are Many Positive Aspects
Manchester United coach Rúben Amorim appeared in a press statement following the 4-4 draw against Bournemouth in the sixteenth round of the Premier League, held at Old Trafford.
The coach said in his speech: "It was an enjoyable match for everyone who watched it from home. I believe we started the game very well and delivered an outstanding first half."
He added: "The result should have been completely different. Then, in the first six minutes of the second half, similar to what happened against Nottingham Forest, we lost focus and conceded two goals. But we managed to come back into the match and scored two goals again, and after that, we had to finish the game."
He emphasized: "There was a contact throw in our favor, and we needed to close out the match and focus on staying composed and not rushing again, to remain calm and finish the game."
He added: "I saw the great effort from the players, and I saw the effort from the defensive line. At the end of the match, when the score reached 4-3, I had a feeling that we would continue to press and score another goal. We tried, but in the end, the match ended in a draw."
He continued: "There are many positive aspects, but also a lot that needs to be worked on. Sometimes we lose matches because of small details. It's not about playing with four, three, or five defenders."
He concluded: "These are the details we need to work on, and to understand the flow of the match. We also need to be more decisive in front of the goal. Once again, today we faced a very strong team, created many chances to win the match, and we should have secured all three points."
