Simeone: Great players do not cause problems, and we look forward to repeating victories away from home

Diego Simeone, the coach of Atlético Madrid, spoke about his team's victory over Valencia in the sixteenth round of the Spanish league at the Metropolitano Stadium, highlighting the key aspects of the performance and the players' contributions.

Simeone said: "We played against a team that put on a good performance. We created two clear chances in the first half, scored a goal, and they had only one dangerous opportunity. In the second half, they scored the equalizer, and we also had chances. We played against a team that had options to win."

He added about Griezmann's goal: "I am grateful for his talent, the goal was amazing, a wonderful pass from Marc, excellent control, and a fantastic shot. Antoine is an eternal and unique player; we talk to him daily because he is important at any moment on the field. He is part of the club's history and a true legend, and my appreciation for him is very great."

He continued about Griezmann and Koke: "The three of us talked recently. Koke has played many matches during this period, while Cardoso hasn't had consistent playing time. We need Koke to share this role. Koke always responds as usual. As for Antoine, he is starting less often, which is not easy for a historic player and top scorer. I wanted to convey to him how important he always is because he has different qualities and leadership. When his turn comes, as it did today, he helps the team and enjoys it as well."

He added regarding the competition within the team and the performance of other players: "It doesn't surprise me; true stars never cause problems because they understand their role and know they are part of a team. Although they want to play, they give their best, as shown by Koke and Griezmann. We must try to replicate that performance away from home, just as we did in Eindhoven."

He continued talking about some other players: "Sorloth knows how much we appreciate him as a player and as a person. He is important to us because he is different from what we have. Popiel continues to progress and will soon reach the Spanish national team. He can play in different positions and needs to stay away from the press's words. If he keeps working, he will improve. As for Julián Álvarez, he was like the rest of his teammates, and I see him at a good level. Today he was at the same level. In the first sixty minutes, there was no difference because we came after a big effort in Eindhoven."
