Officials at Al-Ettifaq Club are awaiting a response from the Saudi Professional League Association, represented by the Recruitment Committee, to determine the future of Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, amid the uncertainty surrounding his fate as his contract approaches its end.

The Saudi newspaper "Al-Riyadiyah" reported that Al-Ettifaq's management is awaiting a response from the recruitment committee regarding the renewal of Wijnaldum's contract. The player's continuation with the team depends on receiving the necessary support from the committee, especially as he enters the free period of his contract in January 2026.

The newspaper pointed out that Wijnaldum's future will become clearer in the coming weeks, as the management will make its final decision either to continue with the player and extend his contract or to look for other alternatives to strengthen the midfield.

It is worth mentioning that Wijnaldum, 35 years old, joined Al-Ettifaq in the summer of 2023 coming from Paris Saint-Germain. He has extensive experience at both the European and international levels, making him one of the prominent names in the team in recent times.
