Officially.. Announcement of the Start Date for the Saudi League 2026-2027

Monday 01-06-2026
The Saudi Professional League Association has revealed the annual calendar for the 2026-2027 season, which includes the key dates of the season and the preliminary dates for all rounds of the Saudi Roshan League.

The association clarified that the Saudi Roshan League season will commence on August 13, 2026, and will conclude on May 29, 2027, in a season that coincides with a busy calendar of international, continental, and local commitments, which has affected the distribution mechanism of rounds and rest periods throughout the season.

The association indicated that the calendar preparation took into account 80 days allocated for international breaks and the national team, and Saudi Arabia's hosting of the 2027 Asian Cup.

The association had 103 days available to hold the 34 rounds of the Saudi Roshan League, which includes 306 matches, requiring a precise distribution of rounds that considers the regularity of the competition, competitive fairness, and available rest periods for clubs, especially in stages that witness overlap between league matches and external competitions.

It is planned that 25 rounds will take place during weekends, in addition to 4 rounds partially held within the weekend, against 5 rounds midweek, due to time constraints related to the international, continental, and local calendar.

Additionally, 7 Saudi clubs participate in 4 external tournaments, which increases the challenge related to scheduling matches and rest days, especially in the last third of the season, coinciding with the decisive stages of the league and several other tournaments.

The Saudi Professional League Association, in coordination with the clubs and relevant parties, has worked on building a calendar that achieves the best possible balance between the competitive loads of clubs participating in external tournaments and the requirements of league regularity and competitive fairness, serving the development of the competition and fan experience, in light of the constraints imposed by the annual calendar on the days available for the league.

This announcement comes following a season that saw Al-Nassr Club crowned as the Saudi Roshan League champion, after a strong competition with Al-Hilal that continued until the final rounds of the competition.
