Chelsea star João Pedro appeared in a press statement following the 2-1 loss against Atalanta in the sixth round of the Champions League group stage.

The Brazilian star said: "We feel disappointed because we came here to win. We started well, scored first, then gave the other team some chances. They are a tough team."

He added: "We need to return to England to learn and be ready for the next match. We dominated the game in the first half and started well. We had many opportunities to score more."

He continued: "For 10 minutes in the second half – when they scored – they gained momentum, and their fans also helped them. In the Champions League, when you concede a goal and then another quickly, it becomes difficult to come back."

He concluded: "We need to learn. We are frustrated, but we must focus on the next match."
