Hisham Yaken Comments on Egypt's Exit from the Arab Cup
Hisham Yaken, former star of the Egyptian national team, commented on Egypt's elimination from the Arab Cup.
The Egyptian national team lost to their Jordanian counterparts 3-0 in the third round of the group stage of the Arab Cup, placing Egypt third in the group with only two points.
Yaken said on the program "Akhir Al-Nahar" broadcast on the "Al-Nahar" channel: "The football system in Egypt is failing and fragmented."
He added: "The system for selecting national team players and coaching staff in Egypt is a failure... The performance of the Egyptian national team in the Arab Cup is something to be saddened by."
Hisham Yaken pointed out: "The Football Association is responsible for the poor performance of the Egyptian national team in the Arab Cup," adding, "There were disagreements between the Egyptian senior national team led by Hossam Hassan and the Egyptian team led by Helmy Tolan regarding the players."
He continued: "The Egyptian league had to be suspended to call up league players to strengthen the Egyptian national team," adding: "Jordan can't believe they beat Egypt 3-0."
