Maresca: We Missed the Final Touch, and Delap's Injury is a Concern
Sunday 07-12-2025
Following the goalless draw between Chelsea and Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in the 15th round of the Premier League, coach Enzo Maresca stated that the team lacked the final touch in the attacking third. This came after the Blues failed to return to winning ways following their defeat against Leeds United. He also pointed out that Cole Palmer contributed positively to the playmaking, despite being unable to change the result.

Maresca said about the team's performance: "It was a match where we lacked quality in the final third and made many mistakes. There were passes in advanced areas that we could have finished with a shot, but we didn't. And when you can't win, it's important not to lose."

He continued: "The final touch is something that can happen in some matches, and Cole Palmer was good in this aspect after playing for a longer time today."

The coach spoke about the injury of striker Liam Delap, saying: "Unfortunately, he will be out again, and we don't know for how long, but his shoulder injury looks very serious."

He added, "Delap was unlucky; he was already out for two months, and now he will have to be absent again."

Maresca also touched on the team's position in the English Premier League race, stating: "After the Arsenal match, I said that if by February or March we are in the same position, we will be in the title race. The league table is very close."

He continued: "If you don't win two consecutive matches, you drop down a bit, so we must keep working and stay focused."
