Kompany: Arsenal Was the Better Team and Succeeded in Controlling the Match
Following the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Champions League, Vincent Kompany, the Bayern Munich coach, spoke about the reasons for the loss and how small details influenced the course of the match.
Kompany said: "In football, you can lose, and that's part of the game. My feeling is that we were gradually better in the first half; we started the match well, but Arsenal's corners were very dangerous, and that changed the course of the game."
He added: "We regained our momentum, and I felt we were doing well by the end of the first half, but we didn't come out well from the locker room, and we failed to execute the simple things that we usually do excellently, and that gave Arsenal the advantage."
He confirmed: "Arsenal is excellent at controlling the momentum of the match and managing the play, and when small details come into play, such as minor referee decisions or slight mistakes, they can change the outcome of the game in their favor."
Kompany concluded: "These small details are crucial against a team like Arsenal. We hope to play against them again and see how the next stage unfolds. We have to acknowledge that Arsenal was better today, and we will work on that starting from Saturday. I felt that the players are already ready for the next match."
