Kévo: Frustration May Leave an Impact but the Performance Was Strong
Christian Kivou, the coach of Inter Milan, expressed his frustration over the loss to Milan, emphasizing that the disappointment from such defeats can leave an impact. However, he also stressed his satisfaction with his team's performance.
Kévo said: "The frustration is not just because of what we created, but also due to the performance and focus. We allowed very few counterattacks despite knowing the danger posed by Milan's attackers."
He added: "The only moment we lost the second ball in midfield, they scored the goal. That's football. I appreciate the good performance; the players kept trying until the end despite the disappointment of the goal and the ball hitting the post twice."
He continued: "The players tried to score in every possible way, and this is the spirit I am looking for."
Kévo confirmed that the series of negative results against major competitors has become concerning, explaining: "When you suffer four defeats after 12 rounds, that's a significant number, but the standings are still close. We need to manage this frustration because losing a match like this can leave a lasting impact."
Regarding the criticisms about the team conceding goals from counterattacks, Kévo said: "I know what we create and what we concede; these are the risks we take. I don't analyze players individually in public, and I won't look for excuses. We are all in the same picture, responsible for both the good and the bad."
He added: "We could have scored earlier or handled the moment in the match better, and now we have to recover quickly because Tuesday's Champions League match is just as important."
Kévo touched on the team's playing style: "The players' characteristics force us to attack with large numbers, which leaves some spaces, but today we only allowed one counterattack, and it was decisive. Despite this attacking approach, we don't allow many shots on our goal."
Inter's coach concluded his statements by talking about Lautaro Martinez's substitution: "He is fine. Couldn't I make a substitution? It was a tactical decision, and the players on the bench deserve to play as well. Bani and Pio have performed well this season."
