Sayed Moawad: Hossam Hassan's Emotions Affect Players' Performance
Sayed Moawad, former Al Ahly star, confirmed that Hossam Hassan, the head coach of the Egyptian national team, lets his emotions affect the players' performance.
Sayed Moawad said on the program "Ya Masa' Al Anwar" on MBC Masr 2: "First, let's agree that Hossam Hassan is one of the most important football players in Egypt's history, and there's no dispute about that. However, Captain Hossam's emotions affect the players and impact their performance. I'll give an example with Captain Hassan Shehata, one of the legendary coaches, who would only show emotion at the right moments."
He added: "It's not normal for me to be tense and angry all the time; that won't make me a great coach. As for the trials, there are matches that allow you to adjust the playing style and try new ideas, but in the recent matches, the situation was different, and there was a defensive crisis in the first match against Uzbekistan."
Mouawad explained: "Captain Hossam relied on players in positions other than their own, like Mohamed Hamdy in central defense, and Marwan Osman away from his natural striker position. However, Hossam Hassan is free to play in any style and with any names, but he has no right to object to the local selectors' choice of playing style if there are clear problems in performance and lineup."
