Deschamps Acknowledges Receiving a Saudi Offer... and Affirms: I Only Coach France Internationally
Tuesday 11-11-2025
The head coach of the French national team, Didier Deschamps, revealed that he received an official offer from a Saudi club in recent months, as speculation about his future increases following his tenure with the "Les Bleus" after the 2026 World Cup.

Deschamps clarified in an interview with the French program "Téléfoot," as reported by the newspaper "L'Équipe," saying: "Yes, there were talks with a Saudi club, and they are fully aware of my position. When I make my decision, I do not go back on it, and after my contract ends, I will be free to choose my path."

The 55-year-old French coach is expected to conclude his long tenure with the national team after the upcoming tournament, following a career that began in 2012, during which he led France to win the 2018 World Cup and reach the final in 2022.

Didier Deschamps firmly addressed the rumors linking him to a return to Juventus or coaching the Brazilian national team, stating: "I will not return to Juventus, and there is no communication with Brazil. I will not coach any national team other than France, as the French national anthem means a lot to me."

The coach indicated that he does not rule out the possibility of taking on a coaching role at the club level after the end of his international career, adding: "There is nothing specific in my mind right now, and when the time comes, I will choose the best offer for my next journey."

Despite his reservations about the details of the Saudi offer, Deschamps expressed his clear admiration for the development of the Saudi league, confirming that he follows the performance of some of its stars, particularly N'Golo Kanté, the Al-Ittihad player. He stated, "Kanté is delivering an outstanding performance in Saudi Arabia and deserves to return to the national team."

He added that "what is happening in Saudi Arabia in terms of rapid development reflects a true football renaissance, as it has become a prominent destination for stars and top coaches from around the world."

Deschamps is currently leading the French national team towards securing qualification for the 2026 World Cup, as they top Group D with ten points. They only need one more point from their matches against Ukraine and Azerbaijan to officially confirm their qualification.

It seems that the French coach is close to closing a golden chapter with the "Les Bleus," while also opening the door to a new experience that could be in the Middle East, moving towards a new phase in the career of one of the most prominent coaches in the history of modern football.
