Benatia Clarifies Nayef Aguerd's Health Condition
The sports director of Olympique Marseille, former Moroccan international Mehdi Benatia, revealed details about the health condition of his compatriot Nayef Aguerd, noting that the club is working in full coordination with the medical staff of the Moroccan national team to find the best solution to return him to the pitch in optimal condition.
Bennatia explained in press statements that Akord is suffering from chronic pain that has worsened recently, which prevented him from finishing the match against Brest and forced the coaching staff to exclude him from the match against Auxerre to avoid aggravating the injury.
Ibn Attiya said: "Our priority is the health of Nayef Aguerd. We will communicate with the medical staff of the Moroccan national team to find the best possible solution, so that the player can fully recover and overcome this pain."
The sports director added that the current season is putting a lot of pressure on Akhrd due to the accumulation of matches and various competitions between the French league and the Champions League, in addition to the continental commitments with the Moroccan national team, such as the Africa Cup of Nations and the upcoming World Cup. He noted that the player might benefit from a temporary rest period to regain his fitness before returning to competition.
