Greenwood Gives Roma the Green Light and Advances Negotiations with Marseille

Sunday 31-05-2026
The English forward Mason Greenwood has given his initial approval to transfer to Roma during the summer transfer window, as the Italian club seeks to strengthen its attacking line at the direct request of coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

According to Italian and French reports, the past few days have seen advanced communications between Rome and the player's representatives. Additionally, Greenwood has shown a clear openness to moving to the Italian capital and embarking on a new experience in the Italian league.

The main obstacle remains in Olympique Marseille's financial demands, as the French club values the player at around 50 million euros, while Roma is trying to reduce the deal's value to around 40 million euros, taking advantage of Marseille's need to make sales during the summer.

Sources indicate that Gasperini considers Greenwood one of his main attacking targets for the next season, after the player had an impressive season with Marseille, scoring 26 goals and providing 11 assists across various competitions.

The good relationship between Rome and Marseille also plays an important role in continuing the negotiations, despite the French club's insistence on obtaining the highest possible return from the deal, especially with clauses granting Manchester United a percentage of any future sale of the player.

The coming weeks remain crucial for Greenwood's future, as talks continue among all parties to try to reach a final agreement that concludes one of the most notable deals of the summer transfer window.
