Van Dijk: The Season is Still Long, and There's No Point in Discussing This Matter
Sunday 09-11-2025
Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk appeared in a press statement after the 3-0 loss against Manchester City in the eleventh round of the Premier League.

The Dutch defender commented on the cancellation of his goal: "In football, the referees are the ones who make the crucial decisions, and we have to deal with that on the pitch. There's no point in discussing it from my side. The reality is that we lost 3-0, and that's a tough blow."

He added, "It doesn't matter what I say about the goal, because any comment I make will be reported in the media, and the discussion during the international break will revolve around my opinion on the decision. So I will only focus on the fact that we lost. You can discuss whether the goal should count or not."

He emphasized, "The first half was difficult; they were more comfortable with the ball, and it was hard for our players to press them. I didn't feel there was a significant threat, but Doku had a good game, and it was sometimes challenging for Conor Bradley in one-on-one situations. I don't think we were in a big problem, but we could have been better."

He added, "In the second half, we tried to fight harder. We gained more momentum with the ball, but our pressure wasn't good enough."

"It’s about continuity and moving forward. Now we go with our teams, we stay ready, and we come back prepared for an important period. We will never give up. We are in November, and the season is still long, and the battle is significant."
