Kievo: We Wasted Our Energy with Napoli's Bench
Saturday 25-10-2025
Following Inter Milan's 3-1 loss to Napoli in the last round of the Italian league at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, the team's coach Cristian Kievo stated that the reason for the loss was the players wasting energy arguing with the opposing team's bench, but he affirmed his feeling of greater confidence regarding the team's future.

The match witnessed a controversial penalty awarded to Kevin De Bruyne, in addition to goals from Scott McTominay and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa, despite Hakan Çalhanoğlu also scoring from a penalty.

Kievo said: "I’m talking about football and the match, I want to talk about the good things the players did in the first half, we tried to stay in the game to maintain our balance, but we hit the posts twice and we conceded after falling behind."

He continued: "We lost our balance in the second half because we were too eager to get back into the game, which caused us to concede the second goal, however, we were still capable of coming back, but we wasted energy arguing with Napoli's bench, and from that moment we lost sharpness and focus."

He added: "The second goal came because we did not feel the danger, as many of us were pressing and building attacks, we were unprepared for the ball that Spinazzola passed to McTominay, then we reacted slowly to the third goal which came as a result of losing sharpness, we cannot concede goals easily from a throw-in."

He continued: "I don’t know what happened, and I don’t care, I will tell the players in the future not to waste their energy arguing, we need to focus on the match and our goals."

He concluded his remarks by saying: "I am proud of what the players are doing, and I feel more confident after tonight, I saw a wonderful first half despite Napoli's enthusiasm, we were superior, we came to play our style, but unfortunately, this is football, we need to maintain focus, and we lacked something in the second half."
