Juventus Coach: We Feel Regret, and Real Madrid's Goal Came from Amazing Individual Quality
Juventus coach Igor Tudor appeared in a press statement after the defeat against Real Madrid with a score of 1-0 in the third round of the Champions League group stage.
The coach said: "The players feel disappointed because they believe they deserved to score at least one goal. There is some regret, but we are on the right track."
He added: "I was impressed by the team's character at the beginning. Naturally, Real Madrid always puts a lot of pressure, but we implemented what we prepared for. The goal came from amazing individual quality from Vinicius, who dribbled past three players before his shot rebounded and was scored by Bellingham."
Regarding why Juventus defenders did not intervene during Vinicius's play: "There was some respect and fear of committing a foul that would lead to a penalty, so no one intervened strongly. In the end, if mistakes were not made in football, goals would not be scored."
He continued: "I asked the players to show more determination, and I saw some progress in this aspect. Every player must be a leader in this team, but we are still not at the level I want. We have many new players and have lost some experienced ones, so we need to be patient and confident."
Tudor concluded his remarks by saying: "We had the desire and enthusiasm, but when you run a lot, you lose some focus. Some are still not used to playing at this level. I know our limits, but I am satisfied with the performance, even if no one likes that we leave without points."
