Kievo: We try to apply high pressure, and understanding the moment was the key to victory
Christian Kievo, coach of Inter Milan, confirmed that his team is striving to apply high pressure this season, but he noted that facing Roma required adjusting the approach and understanding the moment during the match.
Kievo said: "These players deserve all the appreciation; they have overcome the disappointment of last season and returned to face the challenge, and they want to prove their ability to compete in all competitions."
He continued: "I am proud of the way they work and how they prepare mentally for certain matches; they know the meaning of suffering, are ready to face themselves, and show the appropriate humility in these situations. After the international break, there is always an element of surprise due to travel and participation with their national teams."
Regarding the strength of Roma, he added: "Roma is a strong team, and it will not be easy to face anyone in this stadium with their fans behind them."
Kievo explained the tactical changes of the team: "We showed high pressure to confuse Roma's defense, and this is one of the biggest tactical changes since the era of Simone Inzaghi. We tried to implement that well in the first half, then lost sharpness after the break and had to sit deeper, but we understood the moment and focused on defense and counter-attacks."
About the upcoming challenges, he said: "Next week is the decisive encounter between Napoli and Inter at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium."
Kievo pointed to the team's position in the league: "Inter is now at the top of the Italian league table with 15 points, equal with Napoli and Roma, while Juventus may join them tomorrow, or Milan could surpass them if they win against Fiorentina."
