Al-Khatib: I Will Not Work at Full Capacity as President of Al-Ahly
Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Ahly Club, spoke about the details of his decision to reverse his earlier choice not to continue in his position and to run for the upcoming elections of the Red Castle due to his health conditions.
Al-Khatib said during his speech at the electoral seminar for his nominated list for the Al-Ahly Board of Directors: "In the past period, I submitted an apology for not being present in this electoral cycle, but I made my decision to run for a new term in response to the wishes of the club's system and its fans."
He continued: "In April 2023, I underwent medical examinations, and things were not good. I had to repeat some scans after six months, and indeed in October, it was confirmed that part of the basic treatment program is to stay away from any psychological and nervous pressures for a long time."
He added: "During the past eight years, I worked daily at Al-Ahly Club, spending long hours working, at least 8 or 9 daily, and honestly, I will not be able to repeat that again."
He concluded: "I discussed this matter with the current list, and we agreed to divide the files, which will be monitored by the president, his deputy, and the treasurer, but I will not be fully present as before, and this is the only way for me to continue in my position."
