German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann appeared in press statements after the victory over Northern Ireland 1-0 in the fourth round of the European qualifiers for the World Cup.

The coach said: "Honestly, it wasn't our prettiest match. The atmosphere in the stadium was very emotional, and we had to work hard, fighting for every second, third, and fourth ball. Even the referee had difficulty keeping up with all the details that were happening. In the end, set pieces were crucial — we train on them a lot because they are an important element. It was an 'ugly' win, but the most important thing is the three points."

Regarding the performance of goalkeeper Oliver Baumann and the debate about Manuel Neuer's potential return to the team, the German coach said: "Since Manuel Neuer's international retirement, we haven't lost any matches due to goalkeeper errors. Manuel is having a great season with Bayern Munich, but we have no problem in goalkeeping; this discussion benefits no one — neither our current goalkeepers nor Manuel himself, who is focusing on his club."

He concluded: "The most important thing for us today was the result because it is very important in the qualification table. Playing here is not easy; the ball was in the air a lot, and we had to fight in every challenge. In such matches, style doesn't matter as much as spirit and result."
