Juventus Approaches Activation of Openda Purchase Clause
Juventus is preparing to finalize the deal for Belgian striker Louis Openda from the German club Leipzig for 45.5 million euros, according to the website "Football Italia".
The site indicated that the Openda deal, which Juventus concluded on the last day of the summer transfer market, included a loan of the player for 3.3 million euros with a purchase option of 40.6 million euros plus 1.7 million euros in incentives, bringing the total amount to 45.5 million euros.
According to the same source, this option in the contract is closer to a commitment to purchase rather than just an optional clause, as it will become mandatory if Juventus avoids relegation to the second division by the end of the 2025/2026 season.
The report added that the agreement between the two clubs was initially based on the intention of permanent purchase, with Juventus granted payment facilities.
Despite the high expectations, Openda has yet to score with Juventus, as he has not netted any goals in the eight matches he has played since joining the team, during which he participated for only 204 minutes, remaining behind Dusan Vlahovic and Jonathan David in the team's striker ranking.
