Infantino: Italy Deserves the Best Stadiums in the World, and Chaos Benefits No One
Thursday 09-10-2025
Gianni Infantino, the President of FIFA, affirmed that Italy deserves to have the best stadiums in the world, emphasizing the need for clear rules to regulate the hosting of Serie A matches abroad, such as the Milan vs. Como match scheduled in Australia in February 2026.

In his statements, Infantino said: "I am Italian, so I always feel happy when I come back here, especially to Rome, it is always a wonderful city."

The FIFA president pointed out that AC Milan and Inter Milan have acquired the San Siro area in preparation for building a new shared stadium, while AS Roma is also working on a project to create its own stadium in the capital, explaining that the few Italian clubs that own their stadiums contribute to widening the financial gap with major clubs, especially in the Premier League.

Infantino added: "Italy is a football country, and it should have the best stadiums in the world; if we do not succeed in doing that here, it is better to close the doors and go home, but I am confident that we will succeed, for Italy is a country full of creativity and resources."

He touched upon Italy's participation in hosting the UEFA Euro 2032 with Turkey, noting that the city of Milan needs a new stadium, as the Giuseppe Meazza stadium no longer meets UEFA standards for hosting continental matches.

In conclusion, Infantino addressed the decision to hold the Milan vs. Como match in Australia, affirming that football must maintain its international and national structure, stating: "We want to give everyone the freedom to play anywhere, but there must be rules governing that; chaos benefits no one, and FIFA is determined to establish a system that takes into account the interests of all parties."
