Milan and Como's Historic Match in Australia
Milan and Como are preparing to write a new chapter in the history of the Italian league, as it has been decided that their match will take place in Perth, Australia in February 2026, making it the first match in Serie A history to be held outside Italy.
This decision came after it was not possible to hold the match at San Siro stadium due to its hosting of the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games.
According to 'Football Italia', authorities will invest around 12 million euros to host the match, with between 8 to 9 million euros remaining after deducting costs, which will be distributed between the two clubs and the clubs that voted in favor of the decision.
Milan will receive the largest share of the revenues as the host team, while the Italian league hopes that this step will contribute to increasing the global popularity of the competition and enhancing future broadcasting and commercial marketing revenues.
Despite the positive economic aspects, the decision has sparked some controversy, with Adrien Rabiot describing the idea of holding the match in Australia as complete madness.
