Zlufani Makes Headlines with Diyala in Iraq Stars League
Tunisian coach Yamen Zlufani has managed to make headlines in the Iraq Stars League after the impressive results and strong performances his team Diyala has been delivering during the current season of the competition, which is being held for the second season under its new name.
Zlufani has been leading the Diyala team since last season, after being appointed to succeed coach Sadiq Hanoun, and he succeeded in guiding the orange team to remain in the top league despite the difficult task, as the team had recently been promoted from the Premier League.
Zlufani added: "What we are achieving today is the result of teamwork and commitment within the club, the team is experiencing an exceptional state of harmony and a desire to achieve the best, and we are trying to represent Diyala Governorate in the best possible way."
He continued: "Leading the standings is not random, but rather the result of the great efforts made by the administration, players, and technical staff, and the strong fan support is a strong motivator to continue on this path."
Diyala occupies the top of the Iraq Stars League standings with 12 points after four rounds, surpassing second-placed Erbil by two points, in a major surprise that observers considered the most significant event at the start of the season.
The Tunisian coach pointed out, saying: "We know that the journey is still long, but we believe in our ability to continue working with the same spirit and ambition, and the most important thing that distinguishes us is that we play without pressure, which makes the players' performance enjoyable and convincing on the field."
This achievement is remarkable given the limited resources that Diyala possesses compared to major popular teams like Al-Shorta, Al-Zawraa, and Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, but the spirit of the group and determination to succeed have allowed the orange team to excel over the league's giants.
