Mount: We Want to Compete for the Top Four Positions
Manchester United star Mason Mount appeared in a press statement after the victory over Sunderland with a score of 2-1 in the seventh round of the Premier League.
The player said: "It was an exciting match, we enjoyed it, our performance in the first half, leading 2-0 helped us a lot. In the second half, we wanted to press harder, but the result was the most important thing. I'm happy with the three points."
He added about his goal: "I'm very happy - but the most important thing is the three points, the recent results have been tough. I'm very excited for the next match, and for Cisco to score his goal, he performed wonderfully today, so I'm overjoyed for him and for Sini Lamins."
Regarding the team's performance: "You can see from the way we played in the first half that we were quick at the start, we began the match quickly. At home, if we start well, we can control the game and score goals. In the second half, the play becomes a bit lenient, and that's something we will work on improving. We support the coach 100%. We have achieved some results that hurt us - the team, the coaching staff, and the fans - but it was important today."
He emphasized: "This win and performance should be the start of something - we thought after the Chelsea match it would be the start of something, then we went to Brentford and got a disappointing result. It starts today, and we will work hard during the break. We want to achieve two consecutive wins, then three consecutive victories, and compete for the top four positions."
About goalkeeper Lamins, he concluded: "It's important in the Premier League to keep a clean sheet, there are opportunities to score, and so keeping a clean sheet in the second half was crucial. He was solid, and when we were under pressure, the option was Cisco, and we handled that. He was very happy, and everyone around him today, it can be tough to start your first match as a starter, but we wanted to be together, and I felt that today to keep moving forward."
