Diego Simeone, the head coach of Atletico Madrid, expressed his great satisfaction with the performance of his players in the resounding 5-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt, in the second round of the group stage of the UEFA Champions League.

Simeone said: "We played a very good match, the players managed the game from the start wonderfully, and we achieved an important victory in the Champions League."

Regarding the support of the fans, the Argentine coach confirmed: "It is a historic matter, our fans are always amazing, we say this and feel it and need it, we hope to repay this love through competition, this is what our fans want."

He also spoke about the abundance of goals recently, explaining: "Goals give confidence and points, and the team has found the way to the net in recent matches, we are improving defensively in some situations, and offensively we are developing noticeably, we need to improve further, and this is our goal through humility, teamwork, and faith."

Simeone praised his star Antoine Griezmann, who reached 200 goals with Atletico Madrid, saying: "I am very grateful to Antoine and for his time with the team, scoring 200 goals is amazing, he came as a short winger on the left, and we developed his play to exploit his characteristics until he became a world champion, he returned and remained a constant reference, through his effort, work, and spirit, what he received from the praise of our fans today is a full recognition of what he has offered and what he will continue to offer, as talent has no age."

The Argentine coach added: "Since the Villarreal match, the team has been evolving, we must continue with the same humility and faith and gradually involve those we need like Alex, Almada, and Cardoso, as for set pieces, we have benefited from them well recently, and they are an important element offensively and defensively, in 2014 we scored many goals through them, and we hope to continue exploiting them as an additional weapon, just as Barcelona is currently doing."
