New Technology Experience in the Youth World Cup
The Under-20 World Cup matches are witnessing the use of Video Football Support (FVS) technology for the first time, in a step aimed at enhancing fairness and reducing refereeing errors during matches.
This technology allows coaches to submit a limited number of review requests during the match, in cases where they believe there is a clear and obvious error in significant decisions such as counting goals, penalty kicks, or direct red card situations.
The technology also grants players the right to recommend to their coaches to request a review if they notice a controversial decision on the field, making FVS a new interactive tool that adds a different dimension to the refereeing system in football.
This technology is currently being used in the Under-20 World Cup, with plans to evaluate its results and effectiveness, paving the way for its gradual implementation in European and global tournaments and competitions in the future if it proves successful.
