Manchester United Clings to Hopes of Signing Milan's Goalkeeper

A press report revealed that Manchester United is still holding onto its chances of signing AC Milan's French goalkeeper Mike Maignan, despite being aware of the player's desire to join Chelsea.

According to what was reported by "TEAMtalk", Chelsea had attempted to sign Maignan last summer to strengthen their goalkeeper position after the inconsistent performance of Spanish goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, but Milan's coach Massimiliano Allegri refused to let him go, while negotiations for his contract renewal with the Italian club are still stalled.

The report indicated that Manchester United considers Maignan an important option to be the team's first-choice goalkeeper in the future, despite signing Senny Lamine, as coach Ruben Amorim believes that the goalkeeper position needs strong reinforcement.

The report clarified that Maignan is closer to joining Chelsea on a free transfer next summer, but Manchester United has not lost hope in convincing him.

It is worth mentioning that Maignan, who is 30 years old, is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the world since joining Milan in 2021, where he led the team to win the Serie A title in the 2021/2022 season and also won the UEFA Nations League title with the French national team.
