Kievo: Sassuolo is a Dangerous Team and We Must Be Fully Focused
The head coach of Inter Milan, Cristian Kievo, spoke at the press conference before the match against Sassuolo at the San Siro Stadium as part of the fourth round of the Italian league, emphasizing the importance of mentality and good preparation for the team to face a tough opponent.
Kievo said: "Maturity, solidity, and understanding the flow of the game will be decisive factors; our goal is to win and collect the three points."
Regarding recent criticisms, he clarified: "Criticism is part of the game, and I am always aware of it. My focus is on myself and what I need to do to help the players; this team is strong and deserves to be defended. Until last March, everyone was talking positively about it, then misfortune struck, and its quality was overlooked, which is not fair."
On Lautaro Martinez's readiness, he stated: "Lautaro trained with us and made himself available; this is what a captain should do. On Wednesday, he couldn't walk, but he sat on the bench next to us. I am sure he will be ready if needed; I can say that Martinez will play."
Regarding the match against Sassuolo, he said: "There are no easy matches in the Italian league. Sassuolo is an organized and dangerous team; they have extremely fast wingers and experienced players, so we must be at our best readiness."
On a possible substitute for Lautaro, he explained: "Biu Esposito is developing well and has high quality and great enthusiasm, but we also have Thuram."
On player selection, he added: "I don't talk about veterans and newcomers; I choose those who deserve to play. Substitutions during the match are very important and often change the result. Sooner or later, everyone will get their chance."
Regarding Hakan Oğul, he said: "He has missed the rhythm like Biseck and Frattesi due to physical issues since the end of last season, but with daily training, he will regain his level. Oğul is very important for us in the midfield."
On mentality and fan support, he added: "Motivation and mentality are essential factors; the players are champions but they are also human. They have feelings and vulnerabilities like anyone else, so we must support them and stand by them."
On Biu Esposito, he concluded his statements by saying: "I have known Biu since he was 13 years old; he has developed a lot physically and mentally. He showed his quality in the Club World Cup against River Plate and deserves his place in the team. His teammates want the best for him, and he proves that he deserves to play for Inter."
