Enrique: The Marseille Match is Different and We Must Prove Our Character Away
The Spanish coach Luis Enrique, the head coach of Paris Saint-Germain, spoke about the upcoming match against Olympique Marseille, scheduled to take place at the Vélodrome Stadium as part of the fifth round of the French league.
Enrique said: "This type of match doesn’t require many days of preparation, everyone wants to play and everyone is ready. We know the importance of this match for our fans, and we are excited."
He added: "Away games are always tough, but we have prepared as we should, which gives us calmness and comfort. We will go there to play and try to be better than them, as the season is still in its early stages."
He continued: "It’s a different match; it doesn’t matter who is the favorite. What matters is that we have the character to play a strong match away from home, especially against Marseille."
Regarding the strength of the Vélodrome Stadium, he clarified: "I don’t categorize stadiums in terms of strength, but what I love as a coach is to see how we can calm the atmosphere with our quality. We have played in magnificent European stadiums before."
He added: "We often hear our fans, who number around 3 or 4 thousand in these matches, while the others fall silent because we control the ball. This is what we want to do against Marseille, even though De Zerbi is an attacking coach who loves possession."
The Paris Saint-Germain coach concluded his remarks by saying: "It’s hard to say that we are the best Paris Saint-Germain in history; that’s a discussion suited for summer and the beach. What matters to us is development and improvement, and what I see in terms of mentality and the team’s work makes me satisfied, and we must continue on this path."
