Bruno Fernandes Discusses Manchester United's Loss
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes appeared in press statements after the 3-0 loss to Manchester City in the fourth round of the Premier League.
The player said: "It's not hard to find some positives. You have to look at what we did well, but it wasn't enough because you want to win football matches. What we delivered today wasn't enough to achieve a positive result, and that's what we will take from the match."
He added: "It's clear that we need to know what we should do better and think about the next match. We need to score goals and not concede. We continue to create chances but we don't score as much as we want. We need to be more controlled. We conceded three goals that could have been avoided."
He continued: "When we attack, we need to take more risks and be braver in the last line of defense. When we pass the ball to the center-backs, the situation turns into three against three and they press us heavily. The spaces are very tight."
Regarding his feelings about whether United is heading in the right direction, he said: "The result is very bad, and this reflects on us, but I think there are two ways to look at this match. The goals could have been avoided, but with the ball, we were very positive, brave, and trying to pass forward. When we created chances, we needed to be more precise."
He concluded: "We wanted what Manchester City got, which is the three points. City was smart in the way they scored their goals; they have a great team and exceptional players."
