Mariska: We Deserved to Win, and It's Regrettable
Sunday 14-09-2025
Chelsea coach Enzo Mariska appeared in a press statement after the 2-2 draw against Brentford in the fourth round of the Premier League.

The coach said: "We knew the match would be difficult. In the first half, we faced difficulties in finding solutions and spaces due to their organized defense. But I believe we were much better in the second half. It is regrettable that we conceded a goal in the 93rd or 94th minute, and we should have managed that situation better."

Regarding the goals conceded by his team, he clarified: "You must be able to avoid counterattacks and set pieces, but they scored from counterattacks and set pieces. We handled that well for most of the match, but in the end, we conceded a goal, and that is regrettable."

The Italian coach revealed some changes he made at halftime: "We planned to give Fofana only 45 minutes, and the same goes for Hato. As for Bonanoti, his recent form has not been the best, especially knowing he might leave. Overall, they were good."

He added about the improvement in performance between the halves: "We were much better in the second half, and I believe we deserved to win. But unfortunately, we lost two points."

He concluded regarding Palmer's participation as a substitute: "He has been out for almost three weeks. We know his value and that he will help us a lot. When he came on, he was very good."
