Guardiola: I will not stay in this situation, and I will not swap Haaland for any other player

Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola appeared in a press conference to discuss the upcoming match against Manchester United, in the top match of the fourth round of the Premier League.

He began his talk about his future: "I have said it many times, I do not know what will happen in the future. The results determine the positions, and I must have a good season. I will not stay if the club feels it needs a change, but for now, I want to continue more than ever after what happened last season. I am not saying this just because of what I achieved previously, but because I always look forward. When I joined and signed for three years, I never expected to stay for a full contract. I am very proud of that, and I want to help the team and the club time and again."

He added: "When I came in 2016, I had hair, and now almost ten years have passed. Yes, it is somewhat similar, especially with the change of 10 important players over four or five months. Changes always happen in clubs, but we still need more stability. We are doing a lot of good things, but we need to become more stable, and we will do that step by step."

Regarding new signings and the departure of some players: "First of all, Ederson, Gundogan, and Manu [Akangji] deserve special words. What we achieved would not have been possible without them. Ederson helped us create a unique playing style during the best decade for this club. Gundogan is one of my best signings. I wish them good luck, as they helped us to be what we are. Ederson wanted to have a new experience, and the market gave us the opportunity to sign Donnarumma, a 26-year-old goalkeeper with amazing experience."

On signing Donnarumma: "He is very tall and massive; all goalkeepers make saves and bring character to the team, but Gigi has a great presence and has shown that in the biggest matches. Of course, he will concede goals, but we will all help him to avoid that as much as possible. We did not sign him to do what Ederson did. Ederson is the best I have seen in short and long passes, while Donnarumma has different qualities, and we will adapt to that."

Regarding James Trafford and how his position is affected by Donnarumma's arrival: "He is a Manchester City goalkeeper, but I can only play with one goalkeeper, while I can include two or more defenders. The season is long, and everyone will get their chance even if they do not believe that."

On comparing Haaland and Alexander Isak: "Haaland is a slightly higher level than Isak. Isak is an exceptional player, and of course, what they paid for him proves his value. Some may say Mbappe or Messi or Cristiano, but I will not swap Erling for anyone. I know him and love him."

He continued about reducing the squad list: "Now I only have 16 players, and this is much easier than having 26 players."

He concluded about the team's situation: "Omar Marmoush came injured from Egypt; we will wait for the tests, but he will be out for a few weeks and will be ready before the next international break. Ryan Ait-Nouri and Ryan Cherki are out of consideration, and John Stones has slight doubts, but it is not a big problem. The rest of the players are fine."
