Donis Strengthens Gulf's Defense by Signing Abdullah Al-Hafith

Monday 08-09-2025
The Gulf Club signed veteran defender Abdullah Al-Hafith on Sunday to strengthen the first team until 2028, coming from Al-Wahda, as part of Greek coach Georgios Donis's plan to enhance the defense line.

The signing of Al-Hafith came based on a direct recommendation from Donis, who emphasized the importance of having a player with extensive experience in local tournaments, contributing to a greater balance in the Eastern team's lineup.

Donis had previously coached Al-Hafith at Al-Wahda two seasons ago, which gave him significant insight into the veteran defender's capabilities and defensive techniques on the field.

Al-Hafith, who is 32 years old, has a long experience in the Saudi league, having represented clubs like Al-Ettifaq, Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, and Al-Wahda, in addition to a professional stint in Portugal with Léria and Paços de Ferreira.

Throughout his professional career, Al-Hafith has played 214 matches, including 171 in the Saudi Roshan League, during which he scored five goals and assisted one, according to the global website "Transfermarkt".

Upon officially signing, the new defender joined the Gulf training sessions at the club's stadium, where his teammates warmly welcomed him by organizing a special welcoming tunnel, showcasing the bond between the players and the team spirit.
