Saudi Club Sets Sights on Onana

Friday 05-09-2025
Journalist Graeme Bailey, senior correspondent for TBR Football, revealed that one of the clubs in the Saudi Roshan League is interested in signing Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana, the current Manchester United goalkeeper, in the upcoming period.

Bailey indicated that Manchester United's management informed Onana last August about their plans to bring in a new goalkeeper, which indeed happened with the signing of Lamine from Royal Antwerp in Belgium during the final hours of the summer transfer window.

Despite the completion of this deal, Onana's name remains strongly present in the transfer market, amid reports of Saudi clubs wanting to sign him to benefit from his extensive experience in European leagues.

The 28-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper is considered one of the top names in his position, having previously represented Ajax Amsterdam and Inter Milan before moving to Manchester United in the summer of 2023.

Observers believe that Onana's move to the Saudi league could provide him with an opportunity to regain his shine after the criticisms he faced in England, especially with the increasing interest from Saudi clubs in signing global stars.
