Mariska: Palmer is unavailable, and I see Garnacho in this position
Friday 29-08-2025
Chelsea coach Enzo Mariska appeared in a press conference to discuss tomorrow's match against Fulham in the third round of the Premier League.

He began his talk about the signing of Alejandro Garnacho: "I know he is already here. It is very clear that his primary position is as a winger, and I see him in this role."

Regarding signing new players: "As long as the transfer window is open, you can expect anything, whether it be players coming in or going out. A year ago when I joined the team, I said I liked the squad, and now it has become better. The same feeling continues."

On the state of the team: "We need to monitor Cole Palmer day by day. As for Romeo Lavia and Badashile, I don't think they will return immediately after the international break, but they will be closer to readiness. Two years ago, Lavia didn't play any matches, and last season he participated in some games. Our goal is for him to get more minutes this season, but I don't know exactly when he will return."

Regarding Palmer's exclusion from the England squad: "I have spoken to Thomas (Tuchel) several times. It is his decision, and Cole is unavailable tomorrow, so it is natural that he has shown that he is suffering from some issues."

On Palmer's absence from tomorrow's match, he concluded: "When Cole is not in the game, we have to find different solutions. We hope to do that tomorrow as well."
